Tupelo
Tupelo refers to tree species in the genus Nyssa. These are medium large deciduous shade trees Tupelo is native to eastern half of the United States. There are a number of species in this genus, however, many are not hardy to Minnesota. Black Tupelo (Nyssa sylvatica) is hardy to zone 4, which is suitable for many areas of Minnesota. Black Tupelo has attractive fall color, with leaves turning shades of yellow, orange, scarlet, and purple.
