Tamarack or Larch

​This tree can be seen in the urban landscape but is more commonly found in northern Minnesota forests. Driving through northern Minnesota you'd be hard pressed no to notice the Larch or Tamarack as we more commonly refer to this species. This tree prefers moist soils and is totally intolerant of shade.
